Memory Stick and its Applications

Memory stick is a hand held device which can be used to copy and store data from computer hard drives. Developed as an alternative data storage method to the 3.5 diskettes that earlier were common modes of storing information. We know that memory stick was developed by the Sony Corporation. Over time, the concept of the memory stick was induced in the market, it was already licensed to a number of other companies who were indulge in the production of computer related equipments. In fact, the memory stick was known to be a quick and easy way for storing large number of files that could be accommodated with the older diskettes. According to the view of the experts the original size of the memory stick has been described as similar to that of a flat AA battery, and also the memory capacity was near about four to ten times that of the standard diskette.

When memory stick was about to launched in 1998, some of the higher end sticks had a data storage capacity that was equal to several computer memory capacities. Its highly important to know that earlier versions of the memory stick were equipped with a ten-pin connector setup which continues to be the standard today. Sony company decided to placed a special slot on their line of Vaio laptops which were especially configured to accommodate the memory stick design.
